Cooking directions
- Season the boneless short ribs generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the short ribs on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add diced onions and minced garlic. Cook until onions are soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Deglaze the skillet with beef broth and red wine (if using), scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Add fresh herbs if desired.
- Return the short ribs to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart.
- Once done, remove the short ribs from the skillet. If the sauce is too thin, you can simmer it uncovered for a few more minutes to thicken.
- Serve the short ribs with the sauce spooned over the top, garnished with chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy!
